Information addict that I am, I spend a large percentage of my life reading. News articles, medical journals, college textbooks, free books on scribd.com, whatever I can get my hands on! But right at the very top of my list of “enjoyable reading” are articles written by fellow bloggers; I read dozens each week!

How selfish of me to keep all of these informative, engaging, well-researched articles to myself! But no longer. Every Saturday morning  I share my favorite top ten posts from the previous week.

So here’s the line-up from this week:

10. The Very Real Dangers of Genetically Modified Foods

This is one of the most fascinating articles I’ve ever read. I try to keep news articles out of this list but I absolutely had to post this one.

9.  Statin Medications and Increased Risk for Diabetes Mellitus

OK…just one more news article. I couldn’t pass this one up because so many people take statins. Not only do they increase risk of heart disease, they increase risk of diabetes.

8. 3 Approved GMOs Connected to Organ Damage

7. 7 GMO Products I Bet you are Still Using

For anyone who is trying to avoid GMO products. And this is just the beginning of the list, because our whole society is built on corn. Corn is in everything: not just food – everything. And most of it is GMO.

6. Experts Warn: This Popular Vitamin can Trigger Cancer

More info on the dangers of synthetic Vitamin E. Taking a daily vitamin or multivitamin is not a good idea; synthetic vitamins are just that: synthetic. They are not the real thing and more and more light is being shed on their dangers. It is best to get vitamins and minerals through whole foods or whole food supplements.

5.  Child’s Neuroblastoma Cancer Responds to Nutrition

The story of the Tyson family, and how they healed their son’s cancer with nutrition.

4. Homeopathy Halts Cuban Epidemic Better than Vaccines

“The typical rate of infection when vaccination and antibiotics are used is a few thousand cases per year including some deaths. When the homeopathic remedy was used, however, only ten cases of swamp fever were reeported among the 2.5 million treated with the homeopathic nosode with no morality of any hospitalized patients!”

Enough said

3. How to Starve Cancer Out of Your Body – Avoid These Top 4 Cancer-Feeding Foods

Very practical steps to avoiding cancer proposed by a former surgeon.

 2. Why Our Mothers Shouldn’t Have Listened to Theirs

1. How to Spot Tongue/Lip Ties & Get FREE Expert Advice

Do any of you moms struggle with breastfeeding? Is your baby always nursing but never full? Does he or she have a weak latch, get frustrated while nursing or wake frequently during the night? These articles talk about tongue and lip ties. Lip ties and posterior tongue ties are not commonly checked for today and can go unnoticed. There’s a reason these articles are top on my list. I don’t know for sure yet but I think they may have just changed my life.

So here’s the line-up from this week:

10. “Got REAL Milk?” Part 1

Answers to questions about raw milk: why pasteurization was started, how pasteurization and homogenization affect milk, and why so many people are sensitive to dairy. (hint: they’re not sensitive to dairy, just pasteurized dairy)

9. Luxurious Sugar Scrub Recipe [Easy!]

This one’s for us girls. I really can’t wait to try this.

8. How To Make Coconut Butter

What? One more thing I can do with coconuts? This looks SO good.

7. Probiotics: The New Therapeutic Frontier

6. The Gut-Brain Connection & Autism, ADD, Allergies, and Other Diseases

Two articles on the role of beneficial bacteria in the gut. The first one talks about the new research on probiotics as cures for disease. The second one is written by a mother whose daughter has Autism.

5. Nasty Cold… and Some Tips

More natural remedies for colds and flu!

4. Concerned About Flouride? ….Reasons You Should Be.

And another reminder of  why I really need to get a good water filter :D

3. Dioxins in Animal Foods: A Case for Vegetarianism?

A fascinating read discussing the challenging argument that dioxins contained in animal foods are dangerous to health, one of the most compelling arguments for veganism.

2.What! There’s No Such Thing as a Gluten Free Grain?

1. Starch Lowers Insulin

Two really interesting articles dealing with the subject of grains. I tend to emphasize low-carbs on this blog because so many people are on highly refined carb-overload and are headed straight for diabetes. However, it’s very true that most people do need varying amounts of good quality carbs in the diet.

8. Why Many Vitamin Studies are Absolutely Worthless

A must read for anyone who takes vitamin pills! This is a great resource on what to avoid. On another note, it’s a prime example of why there are so many health-related studies with conflicting results. It’s always important to know the facts behind a study!

Here are two more interesting articles on whole foods as vitamins:

7. The Outlandish Alternative to Prenatal Vitamins

6. Eat This During Winter to Radically Reduce Your Risk of the Cold and Flu

And here’s what one family takes instead of multivitamins!

5. Everyday Whole Food Supplements for Resilient Health

OK so I had to include at least one recipe! I’ve been trying to eat more liver lately, and I don’t mind the taste but a lot of people do. If any recipe could make liver look absolutely delicious, I’m pretty sure it’s this one!

4. An Appetizer: Sauteed Beef Liver with Bacon, Caramelized Onions, and melted Brie Cheese Crostini

Here is a great article on saturated fat, well, because you can never have too many of those on a real food blog:

3. These Vilified Foods Help Build Hormones and Tame Your Appetite

A collection of real stories related to vaccine injuries. Very sad.

2. Vaccine Injuries: Will Your Child Be Next

And last, and probably most importantly, an article on another cancer doctor who is facing huge opposition:

1. You MUST Send This to That Person you Know who has Cancer

“Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski is being placed on trial primarily for designing and prescribing personalized gene-targeted cancer regimens to terminal cancer patients.”

How selfish of me to keep all of these informative, engaging, well-researched articles to myself! But no longer. Every Saturday morning (Friday this week because Saturday is Christmas Eve and I’m sure we all have better things to do than sit in front of the computer!) I will be sharing my favorite top ten (or slightly more) posts from the previous week.

So here’s the line-up from this week (as you can see, there is 11, not 10):

11. Should You Feed Your Baby Iron Fortified Foods?
10. Should You Feed Your Baby Iron Fortified Food? (Part 2)

Why not to supplement breast-fed babies with iron, and why not to give your baby iron-fortified rice cereal (as if we needed another reason to avoid rice cereal!) As it turns out, breast-milk is low in iron for a reason!!! A must-read for moms with young babies, especially if your pediatrician is pressuring you to supplement with iron or feed rice-cereal.

9. When Should my Baby Start Solids?

Looking at the iron/breast-milk issue from a slightly different perspective; this article also talks about the basics of starting solids.

8. Chlorinated Showers and Baths Kill Gut Flora
7. Will Your Water Cause Early Puberty for Your Kids?
6. Why Water Alone Doesn’t Hydrate the Body
5. Why I Bought a Berkey Water Filter

I found these articles interesting because lately I have become aware of the importance of having good quality, clean water to drink. I guess you start taking these things seriously once you have kids. I have recently been devising ways to clean our water without spending loads of money on a filter. If my efforts are successful you may see a blog post on this subject in the near future!

4. How the Teeth Tell the Tale
3. On Deep Nutrition and Genetic Expression

Two articles related to diet, genetics, and physical development. I find this subject absolutely fascinating, although I’m sure some would find it offensive. The science cannot be denied.

2. Are You Buying Toxic Candles?

An informative post on candles that is especially relevant around this time of year! Ryan and I love beeswax candles! They burn with a white light like the sun, and they clean the air with negative ions, counteracting the damaging positive ions radiated by technology.

1. The Ultimate Guide to GAPS Holiday Recipes

And last but not least, Christmas recipes!
