Our Organic Ginger Juice Powder from Peru. Made differently from standard ginger powder. Instead of drying and grinding whole ginger or the leftover fiber from juice production, this powder comes from a secondary filtration process that concentrates the finest, most active compounds naturally found in fresh ginger.

Fresh organic ginger root is first cold-pressed to extract the juice. That juice is then passed through a centrifugal filtration process that separates the ultra-fine solids rich in naturally occurring ginger compounds. These solids are gently dried at low temperatures (60–70°C) and milled into an exceptionally fine powder.

Because the fiber is removed during the initial pressing, this powder contains little to no fibrous material and dissolves easily in water. It is an excellent choice for adding to smoothies, juices, teas, capsules, or homemade ginger ale.

Why choose ginger juice powder?

  • Made from cold-pressed organic ginger root.
  • Produced using a secondary centrifugal filtration process.
  • Naturally concentrated in gingerols and shogaols.
  • Very fine texture with excellent mixability.
  • Contains little to no fiber.
  • Slowly dehydrated at low temperatures to help preserve heat-sensitive compounds.
  • No fillers, additives, or preservatives.

Traditionally used to support

Ginger has a long history of use for supporting:

  • Healthy digestion.
  • Relief from occasional nausea.
  • Normal immune function.
  • A healthy inflammatory response.
  • Joint comfort.

Note: This product has a much finer texture and a more concentrated flavour than conventional ginger powder. A little goes a long way.

Rock Rose Tea https://www.realrawfood.com/product/rock-rose-tea/ https://www.realrawfood.com/product/rock-rose-tea/#respond Wed, 01 Apr 2026 21:21:14 +0000 https://www.realrawfood.com/?post_type=product&p=60409 Organic Rock Rose (Cistus incanus) is an uncommon medicinal herb. It is a medicinal flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region, commonly known for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, as well as for treating Lyme disease.

Here’s what it’s used for:

Anti-Microbial

  • Used in Lyme disease protocols for babesia (one of the most common Lyme co-infections.)
  • shows significant antiviral activity against herpes viruses.
  • could have anti-bacterial effects against Streptococcus mutans, the bacteria known to cause tooth decay
  • Has antifungal properties and could help with Candida

Immune Support

  • Antiviral properties against enveloped viruses (influenza, herpes, RSV)
  • Antibacterial effects against gram-positive bacteria
  • Biofilm disruption in chronic infections

Anti-Inflammatory

  • Soothes respiratory inflammation (bronchitis, sinusitis)
  • Reduces gut inflammation
  • Topical application for skin irritation and wounds

How It’s Used

  • Tea/infusion: 1-2 tsp dried herb in hot water, steep 10 minutes
  • Tincture: 1-2 ml, 2-3× daily
  • Inhalation: Steam for respiratory support

Cautions

  • Avoid during pregnancy
  • Not for prolonged daily use (cycle 2 weeks on/1 week off)
  • May interact with anticoagulants and seizure medications
  • Bitter taste can aggravate reflux

Key Research: Johns Hopkins 2020 Study

A landmark in vitro study from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health tested 14 plant extracts against Borrelia burgdorferi (the Lyme bacteria) and found that both Mediterranean rockrose (Cistus incanus) and sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua) were among seven herbs that outperformed standard antibiotics (doxycycline and cefuroxime) .

Specific Findings:

Table

Herb

Activity Against Lyme

Key Mechanism

Sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua)

Strong activity against stationary phase/persister cells (dormant bacteria that antibiotics miss)

Artemisinin generates free radicals that damage bacterial proteins

Mediterranean rockrose (Cistus incanus)

Strong activity; inhibits biofilm formation without harming healthy cells

Polyphenols disrupt bacterial cell membranes

Clinical Experience

Dr. Ying Zhang (Johns Hopkins): “This study provides the first convincing evidence that some of the herbs used by patients, such as Cryptolepis, black walnut, sweet wormwood, cat’s claw, and Japanese knotweed have potent activity against Lyme disease bacteria, especially the dormant persister forms, which are not killed by the current Lyme antibiotics” .

Dr. Sunjya Schweig (California Center for Functional Medicine): Notes that many patients turn to these herbal remedies to fill treatment gaps left by antibiotics, but emphasizes the need for clinical trials .

A 2020-2024 clinical study in Germany used a tincture combining both rock rose and sweet wormwood (along with other herbs) versus standard antibiotics, measuring outcomes with lymphocyte transformation tests. Results showed both approaches reduced disease activity, though the study was retrospective and not randomized .

How It Helps Lyme Patients Specifically

  1. Targets persister cells – The stationary phase bacteria that cause chronic/persistent Lyme symptoms
  2. Biofilm disruption – Rock rose breaks down the protective slime colonies bacteria hide in
  3. Co-infection coverage – Sweet wormwood is traditionally used for Babesia (a malaria-like co-infection common in Lyme patients)
  4. Anti-inflammatory – Both herbs reduce the inflammatory cascade that causes Lyme symptoms

Panela (Cane Sugar) https://www.realrawfood.com/product/panela-cane-sugar/ https://www.realrawfood.com/product/panela-cane-sugar/#respond Thu, 19 Feb 2026 19:48:24 +0000 https://www.realrawfood.com/?post_type=product&p=59794 Certified Organic Panela from Peru.

Overview
Panela is a traditional unrefined sweetener made from sugar cane, a perennial grass that is grown in the northern region of Peru, where locals will make panela (or raw cane sugar). It is made from freshly pressed sugarcane juice that is gently evaporated to preserve its natural molasses content. Raw cane sugar has considerably more B Vitamins than refined sugar, specifically B3, B5, B6.

Unlike refined white sugar, panela is never bleached or heavily processed, allowing it to retain its rich caramel flavor, golden-brown color, and naturally occurring trace minerals. This wholesome sweetener offers a deeper, more complex taste while staying true to its natural origins.

Key Features

100% Unrefined: Made from pure sugarcane juice with minimal processing and no bleaching.

Rich Caramel Flavor: Deep, warm notes of molasses and toffee enhance both sweet and savory dishes.

Naturally Occurring Minerals: Retains trace minerals present in sugarcane due to its unrefined nature.

Lower Glycemic Index: Contains chromium, which reduces its effect on blood sugar.

Traditional Craftsmanship: Produced using time-honoured evaporation methods to preserve authenticity and quality.

Health Benefits:

Less Processed Alternative: A more natural option compared to refined white sugar.

Mineral Content: Contains small amounts of naturally occurring minerals from sugarcane.

Wholesome Sweetener Choice: Ideal for those seeking minimally processed pantry staples.

Usage Instructions:

Baking: Substitute 1:1 for white or brown sugar in baking recipes to add depth and a caramel-like richness.

Beverages: Stir into coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or smoothies for a smooth, molasses-infused sweetness.

Storage Instructions:

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to maintain texture and flavor.

Apricot Pits/Kernels https://www.realrawfood.com/product/apricot-kernels/ https://www.realrawfood.com/product/apricot-kernels/#respond Fri, 21 Nov 2025 21:24:41 +0000 https://www.realrawfood.com/?post_type=product&p=57651 From Organically Grown Apricots in Naramata. (In-Shell)

Apricot kernels are technically a seed that is found inside the pits of apricots. They look like small almonds and have a similar amaretto flavour.

They are used in culinary and medicinal applications across Europe and Asia, and are commonly used for respiratory conditions, digestive disorders and certain types of cancer. They are a good source of vitamin E, B17, zinc, calcium, magnesium,  iron and potassium.

*Health Canada suggests adults consume no more than 3 kernels a day and to mix them with other food. Children and pregnant women should avoid bitter apricot kernels.

Wild Yam Oil https://www.realrawfood.com/product/wild-yam-cream/ https://www.realrawfood.com/product/wild-yam-cream/#comments Wed, 05 Nov 2025 23:24:01 +0000 https://www.realrawfood.com/?post_type=product&p=57295 NEW Formulation: For easier application, we have switched to making a wild yam oil. Contains simply whole wild yam and chaste berry powder infused in extra-virgin olive oil.

Wild yam contains saponins and diosgenin that support the body’s natural hormonal balance. It is not hormone replacement but instead supports the body’s natural production of progesterone and testosterone while also helping balance excess estrogen.

Commonly used by holistic practitioners and herbalists as a natural alternative to estrogen therapy for symptoms of menopause, menstrual problems, infertility and many other conditions. Some people report it may help with:

  • insomnia
  • cramping
  • heavy menstrual flow
  • and headaches

Can also be used by men to help:

  • Keep testosterone free and active by lowering SHBG
  • Soothe prostate inflammation
  • Speed muscle recovery and reduce post-workout soreness
How Wild-Yam Oil Works
  1. Root to receptor
Wild yam (Dioscorea villosa) is packed with diosgenin, a plant sterol that human cells can convert into progesterone—the “balancing” hormone that opposes excess estrogen, calms the brain and supports skin, bone, prostate and thyroid.
  2. Through the skin, not the stomach
Rubbing a small, measured dose (10–20 mg) into thin, blood-rich areas (inner arms, chest, neck) lets the hormone slip straight into circulation, bypassing the liver and avoiding the peaks and crashes of pills.
  3. What it does inside
  • Women: smooths PMS, peri-menopause hot flashes, night sweats and post-meno sleep/bone support.
  • Men: lowers SHBG, freeing natural testosterone, aids deep sleep, faster recovery, and reduces nighttime bathroom trips.
  1. Fast facts
Works in minutes, builds benefits over days; use cyclically (women) or 6 days on/1 day off (men); no estrogen, no progestins, no parabens; glass bottle.

Ingredients: *wild yam, *chaste berry powder, *extra-virgin olive oil. *organic

Apply a fingertip of this botanical cream to give your body the raw material to have more calm, strength and balance—naturally. Can be applied to the chest, neck, breasts, abdomen, inner arms or inner thighs for optimal absorption.

Xylitol https://www.realrawfood.com/product/xylitol/ https://www.realrawfood.com/product/xylitol/#respond Sun, 26 Oct 2025 23:06:10 +0000 https://www.realrawfood.com/?post_type=product&p=56977

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that occurs naturally in many fruits and vegetables but is typically derived from birch wood or corn cobs.

It was originally discovered by German chemist Emil Fischer in 1891 but remained in research until World War II when sugar shortages in Europe prompted the need for sugar substitutes. Later, in the 1970s in Finland, the dental benefits of xylitol were discovered, including reductions of up to 85% in dental caries and up to 50% in plaque. The first xylitol chewing gum was made in 1975 and was integrated into public health programs, including daily use in Finnish schools.

Xylitol is considered a healthy sugar substitute for several evidence-based reasons:

1. Low glycemic impact

  • Glycemic index ≈ 7 (table sugar ≈ 60), so it raises blood glucose only one-tenth as much as sucrose. This makes it useful for people with diabetes or anyone trying to avoid post-meal “spikes and crashes”.

2. 40 % fewer calories

  • 2.4 kcal g⁻¹ vs 4 kcal g⁻¹ for regular sugar, helping to cut overall energy intake without sacrificing sweetness.

3. Tooth-friendly – actually stops cavities

  • Oral bacteria (esp. Streptococcus mutans) take xylitol into their cells, convert it to xylitol-5-P, but cannot metabolize it further. The wasted energy cycle starves and weakens the bacteria, lowering plaque acid and decay risk.

  • Regular use (5–10 g day⁻¹ in gum, mints, toothpaste) is linked to fewer new cavities in both children and adults; some studies show ≈ a 25–30 % reduction compared with sugar or even sorbitol

4. Additional whole-body benefits (early but promising)

  • Ear & respiratory infections: Chewing xylitol gum reduces acute otitis-media in preschoolers by roughly 20–30 %
  • Pre-biotic-like effect: Reaches the colon undigested, where it is fermented to short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate that nourish gut cells and may relieve constipation.
  • Bone & skin: Animal and small human studies suggest improved calcium absorption and skin-barrier function; more research is needed.

5. Tastes and bakes like sugar

  • 1:1 sweetness intensity, no bitter after-taste, heat-stable, so it can replace sugar cup-for-cup in drinks, baking, preserves, etc.

6. Recognized as safe

  • Approved by FDA, Health Canada, EFSA; decades of use with no serious toxicity in humans (apart from mild laxation if you quickly exceed ~20–30 g)

Xylitol delivers the sweetness people want while providing calorie control, negligible blood-sugar impact, and proven dental protection, plus a growing list of possible extra health perks—a combination that places it among the healthiest practical sweeteners currently available.

Made from non-GMO corn. Xylitol made from corn has a much lower environmental impact. Birch trees take 15-50 years to mature before they can be harvested, and extracting the xylitol involves harvesting the bark, which can kill the tree.
